When the regulator lacks institutional courage, the individual must therefore exercise personal courage- but without sacrificing their identity or remaining trapped indefinitely in the struggle. Complainants put their lives in the hands of a lawyer, and when they're let down, the legal regulator becomes the focus of their hopes. Legal ethics matter- it is real human people whose lives are at stake.

Many lawyers, it seems, have a God-complex- the unshakable belief that they are infallible, supremely powerful, or superior to others. [Spoiler alert: It's a myth].
